‘Well, as we know, there has long been a requirement for 30% female candidates in elections. The KPU usually corrects any discrepancies when the quota isn’t met. This time, the Constitutional Court’s ruling has strengthened it, stating that parties failing to meet the 30% threshold will be disqualified from the election,’ Dasco said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

Dasco believes the potential for women to serve as legislative members at regional and national levels is wide open. He noted many women have the capacity to become parliamentarians.

‘We view this as a decision that supports women, and with the 30% requirement in place today, there are undoubtedly many women with the necessary capabilities,’ Dasco said.

Dasco affirmed the House of Representatives (DPR RI) supports the female candidate quota rule, and technical regulations will be included in the revised Election Law.

‘Therefore, we support this requirement. The technical details must be clearly defined, such as how disqualification occurs if the 30% threshold isn’t met, to avoid potential loopholes,’ said Gerindra’s Permanent Chairman.

Dasco stated the Constitutional Court’s ruling is final and binding, so it will be incorporated into the draft Election Law.

‘As the Constitutional Court’s ruling is final and binding, we will include it in the revised Election Law,’ he added.
