Dasco said after a meeting at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (25 May 2026): ‘We discussed the master plan for rehabilitation and reconstruction which has been approved by Bappenas, and thankfully the budget has also been approved by the government.’ He said coordination is being done to ensure the rehabilitation and reconstruction programmes and the ministries’ and agencies’ work plans proceed smoothly. Dasco stated that the technical implementation of rehabilitation and reconstruction will be handled by the Government’s Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra. ‘Therefore, we have been coordinating to ensure that rehabilitation and reconstruction activities, as well as the technical work plans of ministries and agencies, run smoothly,’ he added. ‘Technically, the tasks will be carried out by the Government’s Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force,’ he continued. Meanwhile, Tito Karnavian, who is both the Chair of the Government’s Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction in Sumatra and the Minister of Home Affairs, revealed that the permanent recovery phase for Sumatra’s post-disaster situation has begun. Tito aims to complete this permanent recovery within three years. Tito said the government has prepared a master plan for accelerating rehabilitation and reconstruction to be implemented over three years, from 2026 to 2028. ‘Now we are moving towards permanent recovery. That is, from the three phases—emergency response, transition, then entering the permanent phase, which we call rehab-rekon—and the key is the Master Plan,’ Tito said. ‘This Master Plan is compiled from all regencies and cities, provinces, and ministries and agencies. After that, they are aligned. From the alignment, Bappenas is involved, and we, the Task Force, also adjust it, which will be completed within three years, 2026, 2027, 2028,’ he added.
