Dasco Speaks Out on Birthday Greeting Post for Nadiem on Instagram

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has explained a post on his personal Instagram account containing a birthday greeting for former Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Nadiem Anwar Makarim. Dasco stated that his social media administrator has made it a practice to post birthday greetings for public figures.

“So my new admin, he has now made it a habit to post birthday greetings on my account for every figure who has a birthday,” Dasco said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (6/7/2026).

Dasco mentioned that there will be many similar greetings on his social media account in the future. He stated that the post was purely a birthday greeting for Nadiem and nothing else. “So, yesterday many people asked me, what did it mean? Well, it’s just a happy birthday greeting,” he said.

When asked if the post was some kind of code, Dasco admitted he was confused by the question because there was no hidden intention behind the upload. “Yes, there were many questions, and I was also confused about how to answer them. Because actually, there was no such intention,” he remarked.

As seen on Dasco’s Instagram on Monday (6/7), the post featured an image of flowers with the words ‘Happy Birthday’. Dasco’s Instagram account included a caption with a birthday greeting for Nadiem. “Wishing a happy birthday to mas Nadiem, may he always be under His protection,” read the caption on Dasco’s post.
