Dasco Says Government Committed to Ensuring Fuel Stock Availability
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that the government is committed to ensuring the availability of fuel (BBM) for the public.
He made this remark after the government confirmed it would not raise prices for subsidised or non-subsidised BBM on 1 April 2026.
“From communications with the government side, President Prabowo’s commitment is to continue monitoring and ensuring the public’s fuel needs are met,” Dasco said during a press conference at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta, quoted from Kompas TV’s YouTube broadcast on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
Dasco also urged the public not to hoard BBM, as the government has assured sufficient stock availability.
“We monitored today that there are queues at petrol stations in some areas. Therefore, the public should not panic, should not queue up, and especially should not hoard BBM,” Dasco said.
“So if you ask how long, I don’t know yet; perhaps the government does, but what is certain is that the government is focused on maintaining it. I asked earlier, and it seems not, because according to the government, our stocks are sufficient,” Dasco added.
The Palace emphasised that Pertamina will not yet adjust prices for subsidised or non-subsidised BBM.
This was confirmed by State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi following coordination between the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and Pertamina based on instructions from President Prabowo Subianto.
“Therefore, Pertamina states that it will not yet make adjustments to prices for either subsidised or non-subsidised BBM,” Prasetyo said in his statement on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
Prasetyo hopes this affirmation will provide clearer and more accurate information to the public.
The Palace also asked the public not to panic because domestic BBM availability is still secure.
“We hope that with this statement, the public can obtain clearer and more accurate information, and we hope the public does not need to panic or worry because we guarantee BBM availability. We guarantee it,” Prasetyo said.
