Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that his institution targets the completion of several draft laws (RUU) that the public has long awaited this year. These include the Indigenous Peoples Bill, the Witness and Victim Protection Bill, and the Asset Confiscation Bill. “There are several laws like the Indigenous Peoples Law, which has been around for 20 years, and we, along with Baleg colleagues and the government, will also finalise it,” Dasco said after the first-level decision-making on the Domestic Workers Protection Bill (RUU PPRT), quoted from the Kompas TV YouTube broadcast on Monday (20/4/2026) evening. On that occasion, Dasco mentioned that the DPR has taken a first-level decision on the RUU PPRT. The bill, which serves as the legal umbrella for protecting domestic workers, had previously been stalled for 20 years. “A May Day gift, Hari Kartini gift. For tomorrow, Hari Kartini. Insyaallah, tomorrow. Tomorrow in the plenary session, Insyaallah,” Dasco said. According to Dasco, the DPR’s Legislation Body (Baleg) has accommodated various aspirations from groups in drafting the RUU PPRT. “The DPR and government will certainly monitor the course of this law, including its implementation in the field, so that it truly provides protection,” Dasco explained.
