Dasco Reveals Danantara's Purpose in Entering Shares of Ride-Hailing App Operators

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has revealed that the government, through Danantara, has now entered as a shareholder in online transportation app companies (ride-hailing/ojol). He made this statement while receiving participants in a Labour Day rally at the DPR building on Friday (1/5/2026). “The government through Danantara has entered the app operators, taking a share. With that position, there is certainly room to push for better policies,” he said. According to Dasco, Danantara’s entry into the ranks of shareholders of ride-hailing apps will make it easier for the government to adjust the revenue-sharing scheme between the apps and drivers. “Because this concerns the overall system, the initial step discussed is how to reduce the portion taken by the app operators. From the previous 10% to 20%, it is directed to become around 8%,” he explained. Nevertheless, he emphasised that the scheme is still in the simulation and further study stage, considering business sustainability as well as the welfare of driver partners. Previously, President Prabowo Subianto stated that he had signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers. One of the key points in the regulation is the income distribution between app operators and drivers. “I have signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers. As I mentioned earlier, they must be given work accident guarantees, BPJS Health, health insurance,” said Prabowo. President Director of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO) Hans Patuwo stated that his company always complies with government regulations, including the directives conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto regarding the protection of online transportation workers as outlined in Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026. “Currently, we will conduct a study to understand the details, implications, and necessary adjustments in accordance with the regulation,” Hans explained in an official statement, quoted on Saturday (2/5/2026). In agreement, Grab Indonesia’s Chief Executive Officer Neneng Goenadi said that her company respects the directives given by President Prabowo Subianto in today’s Labour Day speech. Currently, Grab Indonesia is awaiting the official issuance of the Presidential Regulation so that it can be reviewed and studied in more detail. “This proposal for a commission structure represents a fundamental change to how digital platforms function as marketplaces. We will collaborate with the government and relevant stakeholders to strive to implement this change, ensuring that the policy can achieve its goal of protecting Driver Partners, while maintaining affordable prices for consumers and industry sustainability,” said Neneng.
