Dasco, Puan and Anies Attend Iftar Gathering at NasDem Tower

The NasDem Party held an iftar gathering on the first day of Ramadan at NasDem Tower in Jakarta on Thursday (19 February).

The event was attended by a number of prominent figures, including 10th and 12th Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Gerindra Party daily chairman Sufmi Dasco, House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani, and former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

The main programme began at approximately 17:30 Western Indonesian Time after NasDem Party chairman Surya Paloh arrived at the venue. The iftar was also held together with a number of orphaned children.

“We are truly delighted and honoured by the willingness of all of you to accept the invitation from the NasDem Party central executive board,” said Surya Paloh in his address.

Other senior political party figures in attendance included PKB deputy chairman Jazilul Fawaid, PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan, PKS president Al Muzammil Yusuf, Golkar Party treasurer Sari Yuliati, and other members of the House of Representatives.

Surya said the iftar gathering, attended by figures from various political parties, carried the message that existing bonds of fraternity must be maintained. He expressed hope that the meeting would strengthen those ties further.

Addressing the political figures present, Paloh conveyed that all parties should regard Ramadan as an effort to strengthen resilience against various temptations.

“Not only those concerning the matter of restraining hunger and thirst, but various things that could perhaps once again purify the spirit within us,” he said.
