Dasco Optimistic Government Will Strengthen Rupiah Exchange Rate

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco is optimistic that the government will carry out concrete efforts to strengthen the rupiah. According to him, the government has prepared special strategies to boost the rupiah exchange rate. “I have also received information from the government that this week and going forward there are specific strategies that the government will implement,” Dasco said at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 11 June 2026. “From the information I have heard, I am confident these measures will make the rupiah exchange rate strengthen further,” he added. Dasco also touched on data showing that the Indonesia Composite Index (IHSG) and the rupiah had begun to strengthen in recent days. For him, this strengthening cannot be separated from public trust in the government. “I think trust in the government is also getting stronger so that it influences the market and also the strengthening of the rupiah exchange rate,” he said. The daily chairman of the Gerindra Party also advised members of the public holding dollars to exchange them for rupiah immediately. He expressed concern that those ‘hoarding’ dollars in the hope of gaining more profit would actually incur losses, as the rupiah is predicted to continue strengthening going forward. “For friends who are currently holding dollars in the hope of making more profit, it is best to release those dollars. Because if the rupiah strengthens next week, it would be a pity if you are still holding dollars. That is my appeal,” he said.
