JAKARTA - Vice Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has assured that the adjustment of commissions charged by ride-hailing apps to a maximum of 8 percent for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers will be implemented gradually.

“The first step is to reduce the fees taken by the apps. Previously 20 or 10 percent, now the apps will only take 8 percent from the collected amount,” Dasco said at the DPR RI Building in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026).

Dasco spoke while receiving a group of workers holding a May Day or Labour Day action in front of the DPR RI Building today.

“Because this concerns the system and other aspects, the policy will be adjusted gradually but surely,” he said.

The Gerindra politician revealed that the government, through Danantara, has taken a stake in ride-hailing app companies, providing room to adjust the policy.

“The government through Danantara has entered the apps, taking shares,” Dasco said.

In addition to commissions, Dasco said the government and DPR are still examining the status of ojol drivers, whether they will be positioned as workers or remain as partners.

“Discussions on whether they become workers or partners are still being simulated,” he said.

Dasco emphasised that ojol driver organisations will continue to be involved in the policy discussions.

“Later, the ojol driver organisations will still be invited to talk and consult,” Dasco concluded.

Prabowo announced that he has signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the Protection of Online Transportation Workers.

The crowd of workers cheered upon hearing the news from Prabowo. Prabowo stressed that the rights of ojol drivers must be fulfilled by the companies employing them.

“They must be given work accident guarantees, BPJS Health, health insurance,” Prabowo said at the May Day 2026 stage at Monas, Jakarta, this morning.

In the Presidential Regulation on online motorcycle taxi drivers or ojol signed by Prabowo Subianto, the app deduction for ojol is a maximum of 8 percent.

“Also, the income distribution, previously 80 percent for drivers, now becomes a minimum of 92 percent for drivers,” Prabowo said while explaining the regulation.
