Dasco on Chatib Basri-Luhut Visit to Palace: Providing Input to the President

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that the visit by the Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) and member Chatib Basri to the Presidential Palace was intended to provide input to President Prabowo Subianto regarding the economy.

Dasco confirmed that he had sought verification regarding the meeting from Palace officials.

“The National Economic Council today provided input to the President regarding matters related to economic growth strategies,” Dasco said at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/6).

Dasco noted that the input from the DEN would assist the President in taking necessary measures. He added that, alongside analyses from existing economic teams, these positive contributions are valuable for the nation’s economic growth.

Dasco clarified that no other topics were discussed during the meeting. This statement was made in response to questions regarding Chatib Basri’s visit amidst rumours that he might replace Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi.

“In my view, the meeting was purely about providing input on how to increase economic growth. I have confirmed that there were no other discussions,” he said.

He mentioned that there have been unverified rumours circulating in recent days. “However, I have confirmed that today’s meeting was purely to receive input from the National Economic Council, chaired by Mr Luhut with Mr Chatib Basri as a member,” he concluded.
