Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, together with several DPR commission leaders, held a meeting with ministers to discuss the recovery process following the floods and landslides that struck Sumatra at the end of November 2025.

Dasco said the meeting was a follow-up to a previous session held on 10 January. His primary concern was to ensure that government operations in flood-affected areas of Sumatra could return to normal ahead of Ramadan.

“At that time, there were several conclusions from the meeting, namely that we targeted having all government operations across Aceh running again before the fasting month,” Dasco said at the opening of the meeting.

His office had also been monitoring the situation, noting that only a few areas remained hampered. The meeting also addressed river normalisation and regions left isolated as a result of the disaster.

Based on monitoring results, Dasco continued, there are no longer any isolated areas in Aceh, although some locations still require traversing difficult terrain.

“And river normalisation is still ongoing at this point,” Dasco said.

The meeting, Dasco added, also discussed temporary housing for residents whose homes were destroyed by the floods and landslides, including environmental clean-up efforts in the aftermath of the disaster.

“We would like to ask the head of the government task force to provide some briefings, and today we can begin,” Dasco said.

The meeting was attended by representatives from several DPR commission leaderships, including Commission V, Commission VI, Commission VIII, and Commission X.

From the government side, attendees included Minister of Home Affairs and head of the government task force Tito Karnavian, as well as the Minister of Finance, Minister of Public Works, Minister of Social Affairs, and Minister of Religious Affairs.
