The House of Representatives (DPR) held a meeting with the government and representatives from the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara), the Indonesian National Banking Association (Perbanas), Danantara, and the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA) to discuss the performance of banking stocks. The meeting took place at the DPR Building on Tuesday, 9 June 2026.

Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, stated that based on reports from Himbara and Perbanas, the current performance of the banking sector is in good condition. “We have also discussed with Mr Dony Oskaria from Danantara, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, and Taspen regarding the market situation and perhaps stocks that are currently performing well and could potentially be repurchased,” he said during a press conference at the DPR Building.

The Chairman of Himbara, Putrama Wahju Setyawan, noted that the fundamental performance of state-owned banks is currently at its best. He explained that Himbara’s average credit growth is around 20 per cent, while Third-Party Funds (DPK) have grown by approximately 20-30 per cent. The President Director of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) also stated that liquidity remains stable, with the Loan-to-Deposit Ratio (LDR) hovering between 88-90 per cent, while the average Non-Performing Loan (NPL) remains below 2 per cent. “We can convey that Himbara’s performance is fundamentally very strong. Therefore, there is no need for concern or doubt regarding the fundamental conditions on the stock exchange,” said Putrama.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, who also attended the meeting, remarked that Indonesia’s economic fundamentals from the banking perspective are very robust. “Therefore, we thank Mr Dony along with the entire Himbara team, colleagues from Taspen, BPJS, and INA as market participants, to continue coordinating and engaging in ongoing discussions,” he said.

Banking stocks have faced pressure alongside the recent weakening of the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG). Year-to-date, BBRI shares have fallen by 26.3 per cent. Similarly, BBNI shares have dropped by 26.06 per cent since the start of the year, while BMRI shares have declined by 24.73 per cent year-to-date. Meanwhile, BBCA shares have decreased by 38.69 per cent throughout this year.
