Dasco Leads DPR Legislation Body Meeting Approving Domestic Workers Protection Bill for Plenary Session
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad chaired the plenary meeting of the DPR Legislation Body, which approved the Domestic Workers Protection Bill (RUU PPRT) to be brought to the plenary session as deliberations have been completed.
“Next, we request the meeting’s approval on whether the results of the discussion on the RUU PPRT can be processed further in accordance with the legislative process,” said Dasco, which was agreed upon by the members of the DPR Legislation Body at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Monday.
This first-level decision-making was taken after all political party factions had presented their respective views and approvals on the RUU PPRT.
At the plenary meeting, the government was represented by Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, Deputy Minister for State Secretariat Bambang Eko Suhariyanto, and Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor.
The DPR has scheduled the RUU PPRT for enactment into law at the plenary session planned for Tuesday (21/4).
The working committee for the bill completed the deliberations on the RUU PPRT, which consists of 12 chapters and contains 37 articles.
The Domestic Workers Protection Bill (RUU PPRT) was approved as a DPR initiative, which will affirm protections and guarantees for domestic assistants.
The approval was taken at the 16th Plenary Session of the DPR for the IV Session Period of the 2025–2026 Session Year at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (12/3).
The DPR states that the RUU PPRT as a DPR initiative bill is an important step to strengthen legal protections for millions of domestic assistants in Indonesia who have previously lacked comprehensive regulations.
