Dasco Guarantees No Layoffs in Telkom Streamlining

House Deputy Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has guaranteed that there will be no layoffs amidst the ongoing streamlining process within the Telkom Group. This assurance was given following a meeting with the House of Representatives’ Commission VI, which received representatives from the Telkom Indonesia Employees Union (Sekar Telkom) at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (23/7). According to Dasco, the meeting was a follow-up to a series of previous discussions, including a Hearing and a coordination meeting between Sekar Telkom, Commission VI, Danantara, and Telkom’s Board of Directors, with discussions focused on solutions that protect workers’ rights during the company’s transformation process. Dasco confirmed that several key points were agreed upon, namely that the Telkom Group streamlining process will not result in layoffs. “There will be no layoffs. All employees, wherever they are assigned, will remain as Telkom Group employees and receive the same incentives and benefits,” Dasco said. He further assured that some employees will be placed in a new business unit called Telkom Enterprise, with a guarantee of no layoffs even if the unit does not develop as planned. “The rights of employees in subsidiaries that are currently no longer operating, including PT PINS Indonesia, remain protected through a salary continuity guarantee from Telkom and Danantara,” Dasco stressed. At the same occasion, Chair of Commission VI Anggia Ermarini emphasised that the commission will continue to oversee the implementation of the agreement in stages to ensure the process runs smoothly without harming workers or the future transformation of the Telkom Group. Meanwhile, General Chair of Sekar Telkom, Nasri, stated that certainty of status as state-owned enterprise employees is the main aspiration that Telkom workers and its subsidiaries, including PINS, have been fighting for. “In essence, we as employees want certainty over our status as state-owned enterprise employees. Alhamdulillah, today there are several solutions, and going forward the implementation stages will be discussed further in stages with the state-owned enterprises and Danantara,” Nasri said. Nasri also expressed appreciation to Dasco and the leadership of Commission VI for their commitment to overseeing every stage of the agreement’s implementation until completion. Through this dialogue, the House of Representatives is striving to ensure that the Telkom Group streamlining policy provides certainty for workers while supporting the company’s transformation process towards a stronger and more competitive digital strategic holding.
