Dasco Guarantees No Layoffs in Telkom Streamlining

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has confirmed that there will be no terminations of employment (PHK) amid the ongoing streamlining process within Telkom Group.

Dasco made the statement after a meeting with Commission VI of the DPR RI, which received representatives of the Telkom Indonesia Employees’ Union (Sekar Telkom) at the DPR Building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday (23/7).

According to Dasco, the meeting was a follow-up to a series of previous gatherings, ranging from public hearings to coordination meetings between Sekar Telkom, Commission VI of the DPR, Danantara and Telkom’s board of directors, with discussions focused on solutions that continue to uphold workers’ rights amid the company’s transformation process.

Dasco confirmed that several key points had been agreed, namely that the streamlining of Telkom Group would definitely not result in any redundancies.

“There will be no layoffs. All employees, wherever they are assigned, will remain Telkom Group employees and will receive the same incentives and benefits,” Dasco said, quoted by detikcom.

Furthermore, Dasco assured that some employees would be placed in a new business unit called Telkom Enterprise, with a guarantee that there would be no redundancies even if the unit does not develop according to plan.

“The rights of employees at subsidiaries that are no longer operating, including PT PINS Indonesia, remain protected through a guarantee of continued salaries from Telkom and Danantara,” Dasco asserted.

At the same venue, Chair of Commission VI of the DPR Anggia Ermarini emphasised that the commission would continue to oversee the implementation of the agreement in stages so that the process runs smoothly without harming either the workers or Telkom Group’s future transformation.

Meanwhile, the Chair of Sekar Telkom, Nasri, said that certainty over their status as state-owned enterprise (SOE) employees was the primary aspiration that Telkom workers and its subsidiaries, including PINS, had been fighting for.

“In essence, as employees we want certainty over our status as SOE employees. Thankfully, today there are several solutions, and the stages of implementation will be discussed further step by step together with the SOE and Danantara,” Nasri said.

Nasri also expressed appreciation to Dasco and the leadership of Commission VI for their commitment to overseeing each stage of the agreement’s implementation until completion.

Through this dialogue, the DPR RI seeks to ensure that the streamlining policy at Telkom Group continues to provide certainty for workers while supporting the company’s transformation towards a stronger and more competitive digital strategic holding.
