Dasco: Government Has Purchased Shares in Ride-Hailing Apps via Danantara
Jakarta - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that the government has purchased shares in ride-hailing app companies through Danantara.
“The government through Danantara has entered the ride-hailing sector by acquiring a portion of the shares,” Dasco said at the DPR Building in Jakarta on Friday (1/5/2026).
Dasco was speaking while receiving an audience with protesting workers who held a May Day action in front of the DPR Building.
Dasco explained that policies related to the ride-hailing system cannot be changed instantly.
Therefore, adjustments will be made gradually.
“Because this involves the system and other aspects, the policies will be adjusted gradually but surely,” he said.
“The first step is to reduce the fees taken by the platforms. Previously 20 or 10 percent, now the platforms will only take 8 percent of the collected amount,” Dasco stated.
In addition, Dasco mentioned that the government is still examining the status of ride-hailing drivers, whether they will be positioned as workers or remain as partners.
“Discussions on whether they become workers or partners are still being simulated,” he said.
Dasco emphasised that ride-hailing driver organisations will continue to be involved in the policy formulation process.
“Later, the driver organisations will still be invited to talk and consult,” he concluded.
