JAKARTA, KOMPAS — The Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, brought together national economic and financial policymakers to align policy directions amid economic dynamics. The meeting was aimed at strengthening coordination of fiscal, monetary, financial sector, and investment policies, although the specific substance discussed has not been disclosed.

The meeting took place at the Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (24/9/2026). Present were among others the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, the Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, the Governor of Bank Indonesia Destry Damayanti, the Chief Operating Officer of Danantara Indonesia Dony Oskaria, and the Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of OJK Friderica Widyasari Dewi.

The inter-agency forum took place as the government and economic authorities faced the need to maintain policy continuity amid the dynamics of the global economy. However, both Suahasil and Dasco did not disclose in detail the specific issues or decisions discussed during the meeting.

Suahasil, who is also the Chairman of the Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK), stated that the discussions in the meeting were still related to the general economic conditions. He did not elaborate on the substance of the discussions between the government, financial sector authorities, Danantara, and the leadership of the DPR.

“The economy in general. We’re looking at the economic conditions,” Suahasil said when met by reporters at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday.

According to Suahasil, the condition of Indonesia’s economy serves as the basis for continuing the management of future economic policy directions. He referred to the economic growth in the first semester of 2026, which reached 5.45 percent year-on-year, and an inflation rate of 3.19 percent.

“We are waiting for the economic growth in the third quarter. Inflation is also quite conducive at 3.19 percent. This is our basis for managing our economy moving forward,” he stated.

In his written statement, Dasco stated that the meeting was part of efforts to strengthen communication and coordination between the DPR and institutions that have authority in fiscal policy, monetary policy, the financial sector, and state investment.

According to him, coordination is necessary so that inter-agency policies can proceed in a mutually supportive direction. This is done without diminishing the authority and independence of each institution.

“This meeting is not to unify authority, but to unify direction. The government, Bank Indonesia, OJK, Danantara, and the DPR each have their own mandates. However, when it comes to the national economy, we cannot act independently,” he stated.

Dasco stated that inter-institutional communication is necessary so that each institution understands the steps and challenges faced by other institutions. Thus, policies in one sector can align with policies in other sectors.

“What we need to build is increasingly strong communication. Each institution must continue to exercise its authority, but policy directions need to support one another, and every decision must remain accountable to the public,” he said.

The meeting, he continued, also served as a forum for exchanging views on the latest economic developments, the implementation of strategic policies, as well as several issues that require inter-agency coordination.

Dasco emphasized the importance of effectiveness and accountability in the implementation of policies. Coordination, according to him, is aimed at strengthening the alignment of actions without diminishing the independence and responsibilities of each institution.
