Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said the DPR and the government have finalised a Presidential Regulation on online transport that regulates the carriage of passengers, goods, and food.

“We have carried out the finalisation because what is regulated is not only for online motorcycle taxi passenger transport, but this now includes goods and food transport,” Dasco said after a meeting with the government at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday.

He explained that the regulation of tariffs for goods and food delivery will be handled by the Ministry of Communication and Digital, while passenger transport tariffs will be regulated by the Ministry of Transportation.

Meanwhile, online transport drivers will be under the guidance of the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.

“The DPR is carrying out its oversight function to absorb the aspirations of online transport operators, and today’s meeting was the latest of several,” he said.

Previously, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas said the discussion of the Presidential Regulation on online motorcycle taxis at the ministerial level had been completed and was only awaiting the signing process.

“The President has already announced the online motorcycle taxi Perpres, hasn’t he? It will certainly be announced in the near future,” Supratman said after attending the Annual Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly and the Joint Session of the DPR and the Regional Representatives Council at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday (14/8).
