Dasco conveys President's greetings to labour alliance protesting at DPR
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad conveyed greetings from President Prabowo Subianto, who extended congratulations on International Labour Day or May Day 2026 to the Gerakan Buruh Bersama Rakyat (Gebrak) labour alliance, which held a protest in the area of the DPR building in Jakarta on Friday.
“The President extends his congratulations on Labour Day to all of you,” said Dasco when opening the audience meeting with the Gebrak alliance, which was allowed to enter the DPR building. The meeting was about to begin, but Dasco first received a phone call from the President.
He also conveyed that although the Gebrak alliance did not join the Labour Day celebrations with the President at Monas, the President still sent greetings to the labour group alliance.
Meanwhile, General Chairman of KASBI Sunarno stated that they deliberately held the action in front of the DPR building, but not because they hated the government or anything else.
According to him, they had already received an invitation to join the May Day celebrations at Monas with the President. Nevertheless, they held the action at the DPR because they saw the current labour issues.
“This means we still want to voice the aspirations of our grassroots friends, both in the manufacturing industry, in industrial areas, in plantations, mining, medical personnel, healthcare workers, education personnel, and so on,” said Sunarno.
