Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad has claimed that the management of Mie Sedaap manufacturer PT Karunia Alam Segar has agreed to halt the termination of its employees. Dasco made the statement in response to reports of mass redundancies carried out by Mie Sedaap’s management ahead of Ramadan, suspected to be an attempt to avoid disbursing Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah holiday allowances.

According to Dasco, parliamentary representatives had received the workers’ grievances and conveyed their concerns to the company’s management. Communication between the House and PT Karunia Alam Segar resulted in a decision to stop the redundancies.

“In our view, this should not have happened during the fasting month and in the lead-up to Eid. As such, the Mie Sedaap management has agreed to halt the redundancies,” Dasco said in a video received by Tempo on Tuesday evening, 24 February 2026.

The Gerindra Party daily chairman considered the commitment shown by the management to be sufficient. He expressed hope that the announcement would serve as a guarantee for employees to continue their work at the Mie Sedaap manufacturing company.

“I believe the workers can return to work with peace of mind, so that we may all observe the fasting month and face Eid with calm,” Dasco said.

News of the redundancies targeting Mie Sedaap employees had spread across social media. Various posts circulated information that approximately 400 workers at the company had been dismissed before the start of Ramadan despite their employment contracts still being active.

Peter Sindaru, Human Resources and General Affairs head at PT Karunia Alam Segar, denied that the company carried out the redundancies because they coincided with the fasting month. Peter claimed the termination decisions were made based on considerations of market dynamics, operational needs and changes in production planning, and were carried out in accordance with prevailing legislation.

“The company did not implement this policy based on any particular momentum or month,” Peter said, as quoted by CNBC on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.
