Dasco Assures No Price Increase for Subsidised and Non-Subsidised Fuel Tomorrow!
Jakarta – Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, has emphasised that the government has no plans to adjust the prices of fuels, whether subsidised or non-subsidised. He made this statement to provide certainty amid rumours circulating in society about a potential price increase starting 1 April 2026. “The government has no plans to adjust the prices of subsidised fuels or non-subsidised fuels; the rumours circulating in society about an adjustment on 1 April tomorrow are unfounded,” said Dasco at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. On the other hand, Dasco admitted that the rumour of a fuel price hike effective 1 April 2026 has triggered public anxiety. His side has observed a surge in vehicle queues at several public fuel filling stations (SPBU) in various regions due to the false news. “Therefore, we have monitored that today there are queues in some areas at petrol stations. Thus, we urge that with the government’s announcement that there are no plans to adjust the prices of subsidised or non-subsidised fuels, meaning that tomorrow the same prices will still apply,” said Dasco. He also asked the Indonesian public to remain calm and not to be provoked by wild rumours. Moreover, the public is urged not to engage in panic buying or hoarding fuel. He assured that fuel stocks and prices will remain maintained as per the current conditions. “Thus, the public does not need to panic, does not need to queue, and especially not to hoard fuel,” he stressed. Furthermore, Dasco revealed that based on coordination with the executive, President Prabowo Subianto is fully committed to maintaining national energy stability. The government will continue to monitor field dynamics to fulfil the basic needs of the people. “From communication with the government side, the commitment from President Prabowo will continue to monitor and maintain the public’s need for fuel, and once again we convey aspirations to the government side,” Dasco concluded.
