Based on observations by the detikcom team at the location on Tuesday (28/4/2026), President Prabowo, along with Minister Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Bekasi Mayor Tri Adhianto Tjahyono, visited the incident site and expressed their condolences. Afterwards, Prabowo stated that an investigation into the incident would be conducted immediately. He also approved the construction of a flyover near the incident site. The construction budget will be prepared through a presidential aid scheme. “Bekasi has proposed the construction of a flyover because Bekasi is also dense, and the railway needs are very important and urgent, so I have approved the immediate construction of the flyover,” Prabowo said. Regarding the number of victims, based on data gathered by detikcom at 08:45 WIB, 14 people were recorded as deceased and 84 injured. On this matter, PT KAI’s President Director, Bobby Rasyidin, said that the deceased victims had been taken to RS Polri Kramat Jati for further identification processes. Meanwhile, the injured victims are receiving medical treatment at several hospitals, including RSUD Bekasi, RS Bella Bekasi, RS Primaya, RS Mitra Plumbon Cibitung, RS Bakti Kartini, RS Siloam Bekasi Timur, RS Hermina, as well as RS Mitra Keluarga Bekasi Timur and Barat. Some of the treated victims have been allowed to leave the hospitals and return to their respective homes. While carrying out the evacuation process, several parties have begun evaluating the collision between the Argo Bromo train and the Electric Rail Train (KRL) that occurred on Monday (27/4) night at Bekasi Timur Station. DPR RI’s Commission V is urging improvements across all lines. Deputy Chairman of DPR RI’s Commission V, Syaiful Huda, highlighted the issue of numerous level crossings throughout Indonesia. He also addressed the railway traffic signalling. According to him, the Argo Bromo train should have minimised the accident by slowing down. “We are highlighting the signalling system issue. The Argo Bromo Anggrek train should have been able to slow down or even stop its journey when there is a disturbance on the track. The question is, when KRL 5181 was involved in an incident with a taxi and KRL 5588A stopped its journey at Bekasi Timur Station, why did the Argo Bromo Anggrek train continue to move? Is this purely a signalling system issue or is there an element of human error?” he stated.
