Daop 8 secures hundreds of customer items during Eid period
Surabaya (ANTARA) - PT KAI Regional Operations (Daop) 8 Surabaya secured 233 items belonging to customers with an estimated value of Rp138 million during the 2026 Eid transport period, as an effort to maintain user trust and improve service quality. Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 8 Surabaya, Mahendro Trang Bawono, stated that in the previous year’s Eid period, 107 items were secured, indicating the increasing effectiveness of the enhanced lost and found service over time. From the total items secured, he said, 51 items have been returned to their owners through a quick, structured, and well-coordinated tracing process by field officers. According to him, KAI’s lost and found service can be utilised by customers who lose items at stations or on trains by reporting to conductors, security officers, or through the 121 contact centre, which is available 24 hours a day. After a report is received, Mahendro said, officers will trace the last known location of the item and provide regular updates to customers until the return process is completed. “This achievement is inseparable from the alertness of field officers and the support of the nationally integrated lost and found system,” he stated. Meanwhile, he continued, unclaimed found items are secured at security posts at major stations such as Surabaya Gubeng, Surabaya Pasar Turi, and Malang, with ownership verification using identification in accordance with applicable procedures. Mahendro urged customers to be more careful and increase vigilance over their belongings during journeys to avoid potential losses. “We are committed to maintaining customer trust by ensuring every lost item is handled quickly, accurately, and safely,” he said.
