Daop 8: 382,000 Train Tickets Still Available for Lebaran Period
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Regional Operations (Daop) 8 Surabaya has recorded that 382,088 long-distance train tickets for the 2026 Lebaran Transport period remain available as of 20 February 2026.
Daop 8 Surabaya Public Relations Manager Mahendro Trang Bawono said the public still has the opportunity to plan their homecoming and return journeys by rail.
"Ticket sales for the period from 11 March (H-10) to 1 April 2026 (H+10) have reached 179,440 tickets, or 31 per cent of the total 561,528 seats provided," Mahendro said in a statement in Surabaya on Friday.
Nevertheless, he said the sales trend is expected to continue rising following the opening of bookings on 25 January 2026 at 00:00 Western Indonesian Time for departures up to H-45.
He noted that the highest single-day sales so far were recorded on 18 March (H-3), with 17,545 tickets sold.
Additionally, occupancy rates for the return flow from H+1 to H+10 are also showing an increase and are projected to peak towards the end of the Lebaran holiday period.
Popular routes from the Daop 8 Surabaya area, Mahendro said, include destinations such as Yogyakarta, Semarang, Ketapang, Bandung, and Jakarta.
As a precautionary measure, the company is also conducting regular occupancy monitoring.
Beyond ticket availability, KAI Daop 8 is also ensuring the readiness of facilities and infrastructure, including rolling stock inspections, crew preparedness, enhanced cleanliness measures, and strengthened security throughout the 2026 Lebaran Transport period.
"We urge the public to plan their journeys early and make bookings in advance to secure schedules and service classes that suit their needs," he said.
