Daop 6 Operates Additional Trains Following Soekarno-Hatta Airport Closure

Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Daop 6 Yogyakarta is operating additional train services to accommodate the increase in public mobility following the temporary closure of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport due to the impact of volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.

KAI Daop 6 Yogyakarta Public Relations Manager, Feni Novida Saragih, stated in Yogyakarta on Sunday that this increase in trips is a demonstration of KAI’s readiness to provide safe and reliable land transport options when air transport faces weather-related disruptions.

“KAI Daop 6 is striving to provide travel alternatives for the public who require transportation due to the temporary closure of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. We are preparing additional train journeys to accommodate public needs,” said Feni.

Two additional train services prepared to accommodate passengers travelling to Jakarta and its surroundings include the Yogyakarta-Gambir additional train, departing from Yogyakarta Station at 18:20 WIB.

Furthermore, the Malang-Gambir additional train will depart from Malang Station at 20:15 WIB, arriving at Yogyakarta Station at 02:32 WIB, and continuing its journey towards Gambir at 02:37 WIB.

The operational closure of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport was previously mandated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation on Sunday (6/9), from 01:30 WIB to 09:30 WIB, to anticipate the dangers of volcanic ash to aviation.
