Daop 2 records 7.4% increase in train ticket sales ahead of school holidays
PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 2 Bandung has recorded a 7.4 per cent increase in train ticket sales entering the school holiday season. Manager of Public Relations for KAI Daop 2 Bandung, Kuswardojo, stated that public enthusiasm for using rail transport during the school holiday season is showing a positive trend. The company recorded sales of 94,090 long-distance train tickets across all service classes during the period of 20 to 26 June 2026. This figure represents an increase of 7.4 per cent compared to the previous week, from 13 to 19 June 2026, which recorded 87,580 tickets sold. According to him, the increase in ticket sales demonstrates the high public interest in utilising train services as a primary travel option during the holiday season. One factor driving the increase in passenger volume is the government stimulus programme, which provides a 30 per cent fare discount for commercial economy class trains, valid for departures from 20 June to 5 July 2026. During this period, KAI Daop 2 Bandung provided 64,800 seats for customers wishing to travel at more affordable fares. He noted that the government stimulus programme has had a positive impact on increasing public interest in using rail transport during the school holiday season. βThe 7.4 per cent increase in ticket sales compared to the previous week demonstrates the high level of public trust in rail services,β he said.
