Daop 2 files charges against truck driver responsible for damage to Panoramic Papandayan train
Bandung (ANTARA) - PT KAI Daerah Operasi (Daop) 2 Bandung took a firm step by pursuing legal action against a truck driver who parked his vehicle haphazardly, causing the Panoramic train, part of the Papandayan (130) service on the Gambir-Bandung route, to become stranded on the track segment at Plered-Cikadongdong, KM 122+1.
Kuswardojo, Public Relations Manager of KAI Daop 2 Bandung, in Bandung on Tuesday, explained that the incident occurred on Friday (15 May) at 08:43 WIB, resulting in serious damage to the Panoramic facility within the Papandayan service and triggering a 14-minute delay due to an emergency inspection at the scene.
Kuswardojo stressed that Daop 2 Bandung will not stand idly by and will promptly file legal charges in accordance with the applicable regulations. Because this carelessness has disrupted company operations and endangered hundreds of passengers.
“KAI Daop 2 Bandung will pursue legal action against the party responsible for this incident. Actions that disrupt railway operations and endanger passenger safety cannot be tolerated,” Kuswardojo said.
He emphasised that they will not tolerate any form of road user carelessness that threatens the safety of mass transport operations.
“Rail travel safety is our primary and absolute priority. We regret that there are still road users or drivers who do not observe safety by parking vehicles too close and even obstructing the clearance space of the railway track, thereby endangering train travel,” Kuswardojo said.
Before the train was dispatched again to its final destination station, Kuswardojo added, on-site personnel had also conducted a comprehensive inspection of technical aspects of the train set to ensure airworthiness and safety of the journey after the collision.
In light of the incident, Daop 2 Bandung strongly urges the public and logistics transport operators not to engage in any activity that could infringe on the railway rights of use, including parking vehicles too close to the tracks.
The public is reminded to always obey traffic signs and to prioritise railway travel to safeguard safety at level crossings.
