Danzas: Leading international logistics provider in Indonesia

After ten years of operation in Indonesia, freight forwarding
and logistics provider PT Danzas Saranaperkasa, a subsidiary of
the Swiss-based Danzas Group and the logistics subsidiary of
Deutsche Post World Net, has a strong customer following for its
excellent forwarding and logistics services.

Danzas has seen significant progress in Asia Pacific,
including in Indonesia, over the past years, especially following
the Group's move to integrate with Air Express International
(AEI), the world's largest air freight forwarder."We have seen a
significant increase in terms of size and product offerings,"
Technical Advisor of Danzas Saranaperkasa, Chris Remund said.

As part of its commitments to provide best-in-class service to
customers, Danzas plans to expand its networks and geographic
coverage in Indonesia by establishing up to 10 additional offices
over the next two years. "We intend to closely collaborate with
our sister company DHL Worldwide Express, who already operates an
extensive network with more than 60 offices across the country,"
Remund said.

Currently, Danzas operates offices in Jakarta, Surabaya and
Semarang. Despite the economic downturn five years ago, logistics
providers remained in brisk business. "Import markets in the
country have been reduced by the economic crisis by as much as 70
percent, but exports have seen an incredible boom, partly due the
weakening of the Rupiah." he said.
"What we have found is that despite the crisis, the forwarding
and logistics market still offers tremendous opportunities," he
added. The potential for forwarding and logistics market in
Indonesia is behind Danzas's move to expand the network in the
country. Danzas's strong presence in Indonesia is in line with
the Group's global business strategy to further grow a worldwide
logistics network.

Founded in 1815, the Danzas Group has undergone big changes in
the last four years, especially after being acquired by Deutsche
Post World Net (DPWN), Germany's mail service company in 1998.
Under the umbrella of the Deutsche Post World Net, Danzas has
become the world's leading provider of IT-supported logistics
solutions. Danzas presently employs 43,000 staff across 800
offices in over 150 countries. The merger with AEI has made
Danzas the number one in airfreight.

Danzas is also well recognized as one of the world's top three
providers of ocean freight services and project forwarding. In
Indonesia, Danzas has been providing customers with sea and air
freight services, targeting companies engaged in international
export and import activities. In parallel with the Group's
strategy in which quality and customer service take center stage,
Danzas has undergone consolidation by carefully selecting only a
handful of partners, such as shipping lines and airlines, "to
allow a closer relationship and above all to ensure the safe
delivery of goods," Remund said.

Beside the geographical expansion for the air and ocean
freight products he sees big potential in customer specific
supply chain management for inbound, outbound and reverse
logistics including warehousing, value-added and financial
services. Through their Solution business Danzas already occupies
a leading position among customers in the Electronics,
Telecommunication, Fashion and Fast-Moving-Consumer-Goods
Industry. The advantages of concentrating on core-competencies
and outsource services such as logistics have yet to be fully
recognized in Indonesia. Continuing globalization, the opening of
new markets (AFTA) and the growing pressure to control costs and
provide better customer service will however create a big demand
for customized logistics concepts, making Danzas the outsourcing
partner of choice.

Efforts are also underway to optimize the cooperation with DHL
Worldwide Express to create the true one-stop shopping offering.

Like other customers worldwide, Indonesian clients can benefit
from Danzas leading edge IT systems. Keeping up to date with the
latest and best technology is one of Danzas major success
factors. Global systems that manage the transportation functions
and provide visibility of shipments throughout the supply chain
as well as the capability to connect to its customers are vital
aspects of the groups' IT strategy. The global monitoring system,
for instance, allows customers to follow the shipment, to know
where the goods are located and to immediately detect if there
are exceptions happening.

"Our customers rely on us to operate according to the highest
IT standards," he said. "There is a huge IT back up. This
naturally includes article traceability and data processing in
order to guarantee full transparency and control throughout the
supply chain. In principle, systems are constantly adjusted to
customers need," Remund said convincingly.

Customer satisfaction has top priority at Danzas. "We
consistently realign our products to market conditions and
customer needs," Remund concluded.
