Danpasmar 2 Involves Pindad in Investigation of Stray Bullet Incident Involving SMPN 33 Gresik Students
The 2nd Marine Force (Pasmar) in Surabaya is mapping out the investigation into the stray bullet incident that struck two students from SMPN 33 in Gresik, East Java Province, with a focus on technical testing. Additionally, experts are involved, and communication is being established with the victims to ensure the handling process is transparent and just.
“Yes, this is now being examined. There are 119 that will continue to be examined, and the bullets will be test-fired to determine the distance,” said Commander of Pasmar 2, Major General (Marine) Oni Junianto, in Surabaya on Sunday (12/4/2026).
He explained that the handling of the victims has been ongoing since the initial incident. In fact, Pasmar 2 Surabaya has assisted with treatment, check-ups, and compensation for one of the victims.
“Yes, regarding the developments in this stray bullet case, we have been providing treatment and care from the start. Then, of the two victims, the mother of Octo has received all the treatment, check-ups, and compensation,” Oni stated.
According to Oni, communication with the other victim is still being pursued to ensure a proper resolution. “But this is Bu Dewi whom we haven’t met yet. However, we remain open to opportunities for communication,” said the former Deputy Commander of the Presidential Security Force.
Oni explained that the ballistic testing will be strengthened with technical data from PT Pindad (Persero) to ensure the analysis results are accurate and accountable. “Well, we will also request technical data from Pindad to strengthen that test so that we don’t take arbitrary data; it will truly be accurate,” he added.
