Danish firms seek RI partners
JAKARTA (JP): A Danish mission of private energy developers arrived here last Saturday espousing a strong desire to get a piece of the booming Indonesian private power industry.
"The arrival of Danish companies here, representing various businesses in the energy sector, shows our commitment to cooperate with local companies in developing efficient technology," visiting Danish Minister for Energy Jann Sjursen told reporters yesterday.
Sjursen leads a trade mission of 12 Danish energy companies. Members of the mission are scheduled to meet with officials of the state-owned electricity company PLN and executives of private companies for negotiations on power and energy cooperation during their five-day stay in the country.
Sjursen said Denmark will introduce a co-production of heat and power (CHP) scheme, which will help Indonesia's energy industry reduce its dependence on oil.
Denmark, according to the minister, has been able to reduce its dependence on oil to 42 percent from 90 percent.
The CHP scheme uses excess heat from the electricity generating process to generate more power. (fhp)
