Residents are protesting against electrical cables that are dangling onto the road on Jalan Pantai Klotok, Tojan Village, Klungkung, deeming them a danger to passers-by. “We see these dangling cables are far too low and could endanger residents. This has been the case for over two months. We have tried reporting it to the village government, but there has been no response,” protested a community leader from Tojan Village, I Ketut Sugiana, on Thursday (6/8/2026). Sugiana hopes the relevant parties will tidy up the cables immediately, without waiting for a casualty. “We are asking for this to be fixed and tidied up immediately. Don’t wait for a victim first,” Sugiana added. Based on observations, the dangling electrical cables are located along Jalan Pantai Klotok. The cables are hanging downwards. At the same location, there are also cables on the road’s pavement. Due to these conditions, several residents passing through the road appeared to slow down and had to avoid the dangling cables. “This can be seen, riders could be struck in the neck. At night, the road is dark. So it is very dangerous,” said Sugiana. He also hopes that this time his request to the government will not be ignored, especially when it concerns the safety of residents’ lives. The Klungkung Regency Government previously held a special coordination meeting with relevant agencies in an effort to resolve the issue of messy cables. During that meeting, Klungkung Vice Regent Tjokorda Gde Surya Putra requested that all relevant parties ensure order in cable installations on roads, particularly cables belonging to telecommunication network providers.
