Dangerous busway ramps
Dangerous busway ramps
From Media Indonesia
The Jakarta administration is praiseworthy for braving its
various controversial plans, including the trans-Jakarta busway
project. The bus stops built for this new mode of transportation
are good enough, but sadly, the cross bridges for pedestrians are
still without canopies.
When it was raining hard (as on Feb. 3), I saw a lot of people
get utterly soaked on one of the bridges, and a woman almost fell
as she walked along the path, made slippery by the rain.
In a recent morning program of private TV station RCTI,
Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso promised to build canopies for all
busway cross bridges. Now how about your pledge, Mr. Governor?
Please remember that a promise means a debt.
