Danger! Damaged Road on DI Panjaitan in East Jakarta Nearly Causes Motorcyclist to Fall
JAKARTA – A motorcyclist momentarily lost balance while passing along Jalan DI Panjaitan towards Pulogadung in East Jakarta, due to the damaged and uneven road surface.
The incident was recorded in a video uploaded by the Instagram account @ijoeel.
Despite this, the rider did not fall and continued their journey towards Pulogadung.
“The road has subsided and there are height differences from old drainage excavation marks in the middle of the road, making it dangerous and nearly causing someone to fall. This is on Jalan DI Panjaitan after the Cawang Uki underpass,” read the caption from Ijoeel.
Based on Kompas.com’s observations at the site on Monday (23/3/2026), the uneven road conditions were still visible in the area.
Water barriers and sacks were also installed as markers for drivers to avoid the damaged section.
Additionally, white markings were scrawled on the road surface as further indicators for motorists.
Several drivers were seen slowing down when crossing the uneven spot, even though it was on the fast lane.
Traffic conditions from Cililitan to Pulogadung were observed to be not too busy.
One rider, Andi (30), expressed concern over the uneven road and the presence of water barriers on the fast lane.
“I’m worried, because this is the fast lane. Especially when the road is quiet, it’s more dangerous if someone speeds up unprepared and could fall,” said Andi at the location on Monday.
He also assessed that installing water barriers is not a solution, considering Jalan DI Panjaitan is a fairly busy route during rush hours.
“It should be repaired immediately, as this is a busy route too. It’s quiet now because it’s still a holiday. If not addressed soon, the damage could spread,” he stated.
Kompas.com has attempted to confirm the road conditions with the Head of the East Jakarta Road Infrastructure Sub-Department, Benhard Hutajulu. However, no response has been received as of yet.
