'Dangdut' performance on New Year's Eve

JAKARTA (JP): Rhoma Irama, a local musician known for his
Indian-influenced dang dut compositions, will perform at Taman
Mini (Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park) in East Jakarta on
New Year's Eve.

Taman Mini Marketing Manager Widarso said yesterday that
several dang dut artists, including Jaja Miharja, Intan Ali and
Noor Halimah, are also scheduled to perform.

"We have also planned other traditional shows, such as a
wayang golek puppet show from West Java, a jaipong dance
performance and a rendition of Ketoprak by a Central Javanese
theater company," Widarso said.

Puppet master Asep S. Sunarya will demonstrate his skills in
the wayang golek show, he added.

Another wayang show will be open to the public at the park's
Central Java pavilion.

Taman Mini's management, in cooperation with various
transportation companies, has arranged special transportation for
the revelers.

"The ticket price will be only Rp 4,000 for all shows," said
Widarso.

He said Taman Mini expects some 100,000 visitors from Jakarta
and its surrounding areas on New Year's Eve. (sur)
