Dancing, Singing, and Removing His Shirt: Prabowo's Moments on Labour Day 2026

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - There were several interesting moments when President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto attended the International Labour Day or May Day commemoration at the National Monument (Monas), Central Jakarta, on Friday (1/5/2026).

After delivering a speech at the May Day commemoration, Prabowo mingled and blended in with hundreds of workers who filled the Monas area.

He even shook hands with several labour organisation leaders and hugged some workers who came up to the stage.

In fact, Prabowo performed a spontaneous act by opening his cream safari shirt and giving it to a worker.

At 08.37 WIB, Prabowo arrived at Monas using a white Maung vehicle.

Prabowo stood on top of the Maung to greet the public while wearing a light brown safari shirt and a matching hat.

While entering the Monas area towards the event stage, Prabowo greeted the public one by one from atop the Maung.

He turned to the right and left while waving his hand and giving a salute, occasionally also reaching out to shake hands with the workers.

Then, after getting off the vehicle, Prabowo continued his journey to the event stage while greeting and shaking hands with the surrounding public who were also present at the location.

When entering the stage area, Prabowo waved his hand again towards the workers while enjoying the song performed by Tipe X.

In fact, while Tipe X was still singing “Kamu Enggak Sendirian”, Prabowo enjoyed it by dancing.

The moment of Prabowo dancing made the workers’ voices roar.

After Prabowo’s arrival and Tipe X’s performance, the event continued directly with the singing of the song “Indonesia Raya”.
