Danantara's Income Surges 400 Percent, Prabowo Demands Continuous Audit
President Prabowo Subianto has requested that the performance of the Indonesia Investment Authority (Danantara) be continuously audited and verified. The request was made after he received a report of a surge in Danantara’s income of up to around 400 percent in its first year of operation.
According to Prabowo, all these achievements must be confirmed through an audit process to be accounted for. The President stressed that although the report he received showed a very large increase, the government must not be complacent. He requested that the checking process be carried out continuously so that the reported figures truly reflect the real conditions on the ground.
"Our Danantara, I received a report that Danantara’s income has risen by 400 percent. This must continue to be audited, we must continue to check," Prabowo said during a speech at the launch of the book ‘10 Karya Nyata untuk Negeri’ by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia in Jakarta on Friday.
Nevertheless, the President assessed that the results achieved by Danantara still show encouraging progress. He said that even if after being audited the increase figure does not reach 400 percent, an increase of 300 percent or even 200 percent is still a significant leap for an institution that has only been operating for about a year.
"Even if it is not 400 percent, 300 percent or 200 percent, this is a significant increase in one year of work," he said.
Prabowo then linked Danantara’s achievements to various results achieved by the government in the last two years. He said the government is now more confident because various programmes being implemented are starting to show real results and can be accounted for to the public.
According to the President, the government has succeeded in strengthening national food security so that Indonesia is considered better prepared to face global threats. In the energy sector, he also appreciated the performance of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources together with Pertamina, which was deemed capable of maintaining national energy management so that the price of subsidised fuel oil has not increased despite many countries facing pressure.
In addition, Prabowo touched on various ongoing developments, ranging from the construction of thousands of village bridges, the renovation of tens of thousands of schools, to the rehabilitation of community health centres in various regions. According to him, all these achievements are proof that the government chooses to focus on solving the people’s problems rather than finding scapegoats for problems inherited from the past.
