Danantara's Debut Global Bond Issuance Oversubscribed, Drawing Strong US Investor Interest
President Prabowo Subianto has instructed Investment Minister and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani to publicly announce the positive results of his recent working visits to global financial centres. The good news stems from the successful debut global bond issuance by Danantara, which received a strong reception from international investors. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya previously stated that the President received Rosan’s report on visits to the United States, Europe, and Asia, and assessed that the report demonstrated increasing international confidence in Indonesia. The President therefore requested that the positive developments be shared openly with the public. Following this directive, Rosan announced that Danantara had issued global bonds worth US$1.5 billion, an increase from the initial target of US$1 billion due to high global investor demand. “From the planned US$1 billion, the book building reached approximately US$4.6 billion. Seeing such high interest, we increased it from US$1 billion to US$1.5 billion,” Rosan said at a press conference on Monday. He noted the positive response followed roadshows in Hong Kong, Singapore, Boston, London, and New York, where Danantara met with around 122 global investors. Beyond the oversubscription, Danantara secured competitive coupon rates: 5.35% for the five-year tenor and 5.95% for the ten-year tenor. Notably, US investors were the largest buyers, particularly for the ten-year bond, where they accounted for 52% of subscriptions, followed by Europe and the Middle East at 31%, and Asia at 17%. Rosan stated this strong global demand is tangible proof of enduring international market confidence in Indonesia. “This proves that investor confidence in Indonesia is real,” he said. He added that the success was supported by Danantara’s credit ratings, which are equivalent to Indonesia’s sovereign rating from international agencies Moody’s, S&P, and Fitch. The high demand and competitive yields demonstrate significant global market trust in both Danantara and Indonesia’s future economic prospects.
