Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Danantara Indonesia, Pandu Sjahrir, said the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI) will gradually recruit global talent to strengthen the human resources (HR) of PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI).

He explained that the need for global talent aligns with the complexity of each sector DSI will focus on, namely coal, crude palm oil (CPO), and ferro alloy.

‘In terms of human resources, we are recruiting globally. Not just in Indonesia. Everything is global,’ Pandu said at an Investor Daily Roundtable event in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Pandu cited the coal sector, where there are only around 2,000 traders worldwide, necessitating global recruitment to secure top experts.

In addition to hiring global experts, DSI will also involve staff from state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to foster mutual growth and strengthen knowledge transfer in commodity sectors and trade financing.

According to Pandu, DSI’s HR development will proceed in phases, mirroring the approach taken by Danantara BPI, which was established last year.

Within the next six months, DSI will build teams for its initial three sectors—coal, CPO, and ferro alloy—before the export agency is slated to commence full operations in January next year.
