Danantara to Evaluate KAI Management Following Incident at Bekasi Timur Station
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Investment Management Agency Danantara (BPI Danantara), Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, stated that they would conduct an evaluation of the management of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), or KAI. This evaluation follows the accident incident involving the Long-Distance Train (KAJJ) Argo Bromo and the Electric Rail Train (KRL) at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4/2026). “We will conduct a thorough evaluation, particularly of the safety of all existing systems. And indeed, we always evaluate comprehensively, because safety is the most important thing, in addition to improving comfort,” said Rosan in the area of the Ministry of Coordinating Economic Affairs Building, Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Chief Operating Officer (COO) of BPI Danantara, Dony Oskaria, also conveyed something similar. He stated that the improvement of rail crossing facilities is actually one of the work programmes set for this year. “This is actually already included in our work programme for this year as directed by the President to approximately 1,800 rail crossings that must be repaired, there must be gates,” he said. Dony emphasised that this year, the Government is indeed focusing on safety factors in efforts to improve rail services. Especially with the occurrence of the ‘Bekasi Timur tragedy’. “Moreover, with this incident, we are conducting a total evaluation of the security of our mass transportation. And the President has stated that there will be additions to the overall security process,” he asserted.
