Danantara Supports Grassroots Economy, Reviews PNM Client Empowerment in Mojokerto
The commitment to strengthening the grassroots economy through ultra-micro business empowerment continues to be reinforced by Danantara Indonesia. This was reflected in a visit by the Board of Commissioners of Danantara Asset Management to various PNM service points in Mojokerto, ranging from Weekly Group Meetings (PKM), client business premises, to PNM’s Ruang Pintar (Smart Room).
The visit provided a comprehensive overview of PNM’s business model, which not only provides access to financing for underprivileged women but also ensures the empowerment process runs sustainably. Through PKM, clients receive regular mentoring, business and financial management education, and build social networks that form the foundation for growing ultra-micro enterprises.
In Mojokerto, the impact of PNM’s empowerment has been widely felt. As of 30 June 2026, PNM has served more than 73,000 active clients in Mojokerto City and Regency through 25 Mekaar Units, supported by 352 Account Officer mentors who regularly assist clients in 5,515 weekly groups. Nationally, more than 23.3 million underprivileged citizens have been served by over 40,000 Account Officers through 4,655 service offices, including 58 branches across 36 provinces in Indonesia.
The majority of PNM clients in Mojokerto operate in the trade sector, which is the main driver of the local economy, followed by agriculture, services, and home industries. This condition shows that financing accompanied by empowerment can strengthen family economic resilience while encouraging the growth of productive businesses at the grassroots level.
PNM Mekaar client Sulikah recounted her struggle to build a meatball soup business, which has now become her family’s livelihood. Previously, she sold children’s snacks from her home, but after joining PNM Mekaar, the mentoring and empowerment enabled her business to grow into a meatball soup stall offering various items such as fried foods and drinks located on a hiking trail, thereby increasing her income significantly.
The delegation also visited the PNM Ruang Pintar Majada Al-Hidayah as part of PNM’s commitment to supporting education, particularly for the children of PNM-assisted client families. This Ruang Pintar programme is expected to have an impact not only on clients but also on the surrounding community, especially children, by providing access to informal education.
The visit by Danantara’s commissioners to Ruang Pintar is evidence that PNM’s empowerment does not stop at capital access but also touches the future of clients’ children. In this space, 43 children from early childhood education to grade 6 of primary school learn together every Wednesday and Thursday, fostering hope through education.
The visit by the President Commissioner and other members of the Board of Commissioners of Danantara Asset Management, Rabin Indrajad Hattari, is tangible proof of synergy in building an ultra-micro business ecosystem that relies not only on capital access but also on sustainable mentoring. Through this collaboration, PNM is optimistic that more ultra-micro women entrepreneurs will be able to upgrade their businesses, improve family welfare, and contribute to national economic growth from the grassroots level.
President Commissioner of Danantara Asset Management, Rabin Indrajad, stated, “What we appreciate about PNM is not just the financing. There is genuine care through Ruang Pintar and attention to the environment around the clients, so the empowerment truly feels comprehensive.”
PNM Vice President Director Sunar Basuki emphasised that empowerment is the core of every service PNM provides to the community. “Empowerment is not merely a mentoring programme, but the core of every step PNM takes. We want to ensure every client feels real benefits, from increased business capacity and greater self-confidence to new hope for their families. Danantara’s support strengthens our ability to extend these benefits to more underprivileged women and further reinforce the foundation of the people’s economy,” Sunar explained.
