Danantara has closed around 290 state-owned enterprises (BUMN) as part of efforts to streamline the number of state companies. By the end of the year, the number of SOEs is targeted to be reduced to around 300 companies.

Danantara CEO Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, who also serves as Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), said the closures were carried out through a number of measures, ranging from divestment, mergers, liquidation, to vertical consolidation.

“As of today, we have indeed reduced the number by around 290 companies that we have closed through divestment, through mergers, liquidation, vertical consolidation and others,” Rosan said during a press conference on the 2027 State Budget Plan and Financial Note at the Directorate General of Taxes Head Office in Jakarta, Friday (14/8/2026).

According to Rosan, one of the measures taken was merging asset management companies that were previously owned separately by each state-owned bank and financial institution. The merger was carried out to improve efficiency.

“Then we also continue to merge hospitals. After we merged them, we have around 137 hotels, which we also merged,” he explained.

Rosan said the streamlining process is still ongoing. The target is that by the end of the year, the number of SOEs can be reduced to around 300 companies.

Rosan acknowledged that the process is not easy. However, he is confident that the target can be achieved. With a leaner number of SOEs, the government hopes to create efficiency, increase productivity, and optimise existing assets.

“The target is indeed that by the end of this year we can reach approximately 300 SOE companies in the end,” he concluded.
