Danantara Seeks KPK Assistance to Safeguard Investment Projects from Corruption

The Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has requested assistance from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to provide oversight for all of its projects, particularly in the downstream processing sector. Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria stated that the request was made to prevent any potential for corruption in the projects being undertaken by the agency. “We do not want these projects to have any potential for corruption in their execution,” he explained at the KPK’s Anti-Corruption Education Centre in Jakarta on Monday. He added that the request was made in accordance with the expectations of the Indonesian public. “Of course, we want the work to be carried out properly and transparently because this is the public’s hope,” he said. Dony emphasised that mitigation would be applied comprehensively to avoid future risks, stating that the agency does not want large investments to fail to yield maximum results. On the same occasion, KPK Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring Aminudin said the anti-graft body would establish a priority scale for matters requiring intervention first. He noted that the Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring would then convey this to the KPK leadership to ensure a stronger legal basis for its implementation. The meeting also included discussions on the whistleblowing system and compliance with State Administrators’ Wealth Reports.
