JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Danantara Investment Management Board (BPI Danantara) said it has secured candidates for the leadership of PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI). The company is a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) recently established by the government and is expected to become the sole exporter of strategic natural resource (SDA) commodities. “There are candidates already,” said Rohan Nafas, Managing Director, Stakeholders Management & Communications at Danantara, at a press conference at its offices in Jakarta, on Wednesday (20 May 2026). He only said that presently Danantara is still recruiting the leadership candidates for the new BUMN. He said their identities would be announced in due course. “Leadership will be decided later, there are still discussions with each candidate, he added. He said the government has detected suspected under-invoicing (data falsification) in export–import activities. Citing United Nations (UN) data disclosed by President Prabowo Subianto in his address to the DPR RI, the practice has been ongoing for at least 34 years. Businesspeople are suspected of falsifying export data, depriving the country of the expected foreign exchange. “What does under-invoicing mean? The state does not receive its due export taxes; only about a fifth is collected, 80 percent is lost, in that sense,” he added. Therefore, PT DSI will carry out its mandate in two stages. First, the company will act as an intermediary between domestic exporters and buyers abroad. In the second stage, the company will become a trader by purchasing strategic SDA commodities from domestic exporters. Subsequently, the commodities will be sold by PT DSI to buyers in the global market. “So, in effect, the act of purchasing involves paying the exporter; the exporter holds the goods, so the trading and sales risk lies with PT DSI, which will sell on the open market overseas,” Rohan said.
