Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) has stated that more than 100 investors have registered for the development of the second phase of the waste-to-electricity (PSEL) project in various regions.

“The second phase will be opened shortly. Already more than 100 have registered,” said Danantara’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO) Pandu Sjahrir in Jakarta on Monday.

According to him, the development of the PSEL project is not entirely funded by Danantara, but through a Government and Business Entity Cooperation (KPBU) scheme from the tender winners.

“Not all (funded by Danantara), there are partners too, other investors coming in,” he said.

Pandu stated that the partners involved will be selected based on the best technology for waste processing.

He explained that the total value of the PSEL project development being prepared by the government reaches approximately $5 billion or around Rp87 trillion.

According to him, this value covers a total of around 33 PSEL projects in various regions.

“The total project is $5 billion for everything,” Pandu said.

He added that each project is estimated to have an investment value of around $150 million or approximately Rp2.7 trillion.

Pandu further noted that PT Danantara Investment Management, along with its subsidiary PT Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara (Denera), will participate in all of these PSEL projects.

On the same occasion, the government, together with Danantara and several regional governments, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the acceleration of PSEL development in six locations.

The six locations include Greater Lampung, Greater Serang, Greater Medan, Greater Semarang, Greater Bogor 2, and Bekasi Regency.

The government targets the construction of PSEL in 25 locations covering 62 districts/cities with waste emergency conditions or waste accumulation exceeding 1,000 tonnes per day.

The programme is implemented based on Presidential Regulation No. 109 of 2025 on the acceleration of waste-to-electricity processing development using environmentally friendly technology.
