RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The success of the transformation of Indonesia’s State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) is starting to be reflected in the companies’ increased profitability. Danantara Indonesia reported a combined net profit for SOEs amounting to IDR 214.9 trillion (approximately USD 11.85 billion) for January–August 2026, up 18.4 percent year-on-year (yoy).

“The transformation we have undertaken is yielding results,” said Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara Indonesia and Head of the SOE Operating Agency (BP BUMN), Dony Oskaria, during the Danantara C-Suite session at the Danantara Technology Innovation Investment Forum (DTIIF) 2026 in Jakarta on Monday, October 26, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

According to Danantara data, the combined net profit of state-owned enterprises increased by IDR 33.4 trillion from IDR 181.5 trillion during January–August 2025. During the same period, the annualized return on equity (ROE) rose from 7.4 percent to 8.0 percent, reflecting higher returns on shareholders’ equity.

Dony explained that the transformation was carried out by evaluating business models, revenue sources, cost structures, and profit margins. These evaluations were based on global industry best practices.

The state-owned building materials company Semen Indonesia (SIG) recorded the highest surge in net profit among the highlighted companies, at 427 percent (yoy). Furthermore, the state-owned fertilizer holding company Pupuk Indonesia posted a 233 percent increase.

Meanwhile, the state-owned investment and asset management firm Danareksa posted a 110 percent increase. The state-owned plantation holding company PTPN III, meanwhile, posted a 55 percent increase.

Positive performance was also seen at Pertamina, whose profits grew by 48 percent; Pelindo, by 45 percent; Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), by 35 percent; and Bank Mandiri, by 16 percent. “Our companies are now being managed with good governance,” said Dony.

The increase in profits is crucial for Danantara because SOE dividends serve as a funding source for strategic investments. These funds are expected to boost production and job creation.

However, Minister of Finance, Suahasil Nazara, said that Danantara’s dividends have not yet been factored into the State Budget revenue for 2026 and 2027. The agency’s contribution is also assessed based on its ability to attract private investment, increase production, and create jobs. ***
