HALMAHERA TENGAH — Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, chief executive of the Danantara Investment Management Agency (BPI), said investment in downstreaming had risen to 30% of total national realised investment in the first half of 2026. This marked a significant increase compared with its share over the previous two years.

Rosan said total realised investment in the first half of 2026 reached Rp1,010.6 trillion, up 7.2% from the same period a year earlier. The national investment total also supported more than 1.4 million jobs.

“Of that total investment, the downstreaming figure has increased over the past two years: its contribution, previously 25%, has now reached 30% of total incoming investment,” Rosan said. He made the remarks at the groundbreaking and commercialisation ceremony for 11 nickel downstreaming ecosystems, and the first export of electric vehicle batteries from the Weda Bay Industrial Estate in Central Halmahera, North Maluku, on Thursday.

He added that more than 75% of realised downstreaming investment was outside Java. In his view, this development showed that downstreaming and industrialisation were beginning to drive regional economic growth, including in North Maluku. “More than 75% of downstreaming investment has been realised outside Java,” he said.
