Danantara Reaffirms Commitment to Improving Capital Markets Through Transparency and Integrity
Jakarta – Danantara Indonesia has reaffirmed its commitment to the principles of governance, transparency and accountability, echoing Pandu Sjahrir’s comments about his personal investments and his support for strengthening the integrity of Indonesia’s capital market.
Regarding his shareholding in Supra Sekuritas, Sjahrir said the investment was part of his personal investments, which he had made over a long period and which were mostly minority and passive holdings.
“I have invested in a number of companies for decades, both directly and indirectly. In most of them, I am only a passive minority shareholder. I am not involved in day-to-day operations or decision-making,” Sjahrir said.
He also stressed that share ownership should be distinguished from responsibility for a company’s actions.
“My shareholding status should be distinguished from responsibility for the company’s actions. The findings and sanctions announced by the OJK relate to the company’s activities and should properly be dealt with by the company through the applicable regulatory process.”
In this context, Danantara Indonesia chief executive Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said the organisation has a governance framework covering all its senior leadership, including rules on personal investments and potential conflicts of interest.
“Danantara Indonesia is committed to the highest standards of governance, transparency and accountability. All our leaders are bound by a code of ethics and conflict-of-interest policies, including the obligation to disclose personal investments, and we take these obligations seriously.”
Danantara’s commitment is in line with Sjahrir’s stated support for transparency, governance, investor confidence and enforcement of capital-market rules.
“My commitment remains the same: to continue supporting transparency, governance and investor confidence in the capital market. I support the OJK and relevant authorities in imposing sanctions on everyone involved in improper practices in our capital market, without exception,” Sjahrir said.
Rosan also emphasised Danantara’s support for regulators’ authority to safeguard the integrity of the capital market.
“We fully respect the authority of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and support its efforts to strengthen the integrity of Indonesia’s capital market.”
Danantara Indonesia said it would continue to ensure that the principles of governance, transparency, accountability and conflict-of-interest management are consistently applied in carrying out its institutional mandate and maintaining public trust.
