Danantara Ready to Develop 141,000 Subsidised Flats on Meikarta Grant Land

The Minister of Housing and Residential Areas, Maruarar Sirait, has announced that the Investment Management Agency (BPL) Danantara is prepared to develop around 141,000 units of subsidised flats on land granted from the Meikarta project in Bekasi Regency, West Java. Maruarar stated that the 30-hectare grant land has completed the handover process to the state, involving the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).

“This means it is now ready for Danantara and State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to build and finance approximately 141,000 flats in Meikarta, Bekasi Regency,” Maruarar said in Batang, Central Java, on Friday (31/07/2026).

According to the Minister, the completion of the land grant process paves the way for the construction of subsidised flats in the area. From an economic perspective, this large-scale vertical housing project has the potential to increase the supply of affordable homes in Jakarta’s buffer zones, which have long faced land price pressures and high housing demand. The increase in housing supply is also expected to trigger activity within the construction sector and its supporting industries.

The government stated that the development of subsidised flats is aimed at expanding access for low-income communities to decent and affordable housing, particularly in areas close to economic hubs and workplaces.
