The Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) has stated that the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara) has conveyed its interest in becoming an investor in the IDX after the bourse’s demutualisation process is carried out.

Under Law No. 4 of 2026 on Financial Sector Development and Strengthening (UU P2SK), the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, and BPI Danantara may become shareholders of the Stock Exchange. Share ownership by these parties must still maintain the independence of the Stock Exchange.

“The party that has already expressed interest is BPI Danantara through Danantara Investment Management (DIM), so going forward we will continue to build communication while waiting for the OJK Regulation (POJK),” said IDX President Director Jeffrey Hendrik before journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

According to Jeffrey, the IDX has followed up on the expression of interest by coordinating with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and communicating with shareholders.

The IDX has also undertaken various necessary preparations, including making changes to company provisions and providing input on OJK regulations relating to demutualisation.

Jeffrey emphasised that the IDX will continue to support and carry out the mandate of the laws and regulations in the demutualisation process. The implementation of the IDX demutualisation will be carried out in accordance with applicable provisions and technical rules to be set out in an OJK Regulation (POJK).

Furthermore, Jeffrey said the IDX has also conducted studies and comparative benchmarking of a number of exchanges that have implemented demutualisation systems earlier. The studies covered exchanges in Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and Malaysia that have experience in running the exchange ownership model after demutualisation.

From these studies, the IDX will examine the various demutualisation formats that have been applied by those exchanges to then determine the most suitable model for Indonesia. The format will subsequently be set out in the POJK as the basis for implementing the IDX demutualisation.

For context, the IDX was previously an exchange whose ownership was attached to securities firms as exchange members, or mutual in nature, so the demutualisation process will change that ownership structure. With the new provisions in the P2SK Law, the government has opened room for a number of institutions, including BPI Danantara, to become shareholders of the Stock Exchange while maintaining the independence of the exchange’s operations.
