Danantara Purchases Ride-Hailing Shares, 8 Percent Commission Cut to Be Implemented Gradually
Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad explained that to implement an 8 percent commission cut by ride-hailing app operators for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers, the government must purchase shares in these companies.
According to him, BPI Danantara (Badan Pengelola Investasi Daya Anagata Nusantara) has already bought shares in ride-hailing firms, allowing for this step to be adjusted gradually and surely.
“The first thing is to then lower the fees taken by the app operators. Previously 20 or 10 percent, so the operators will only take eight percent from what is collected,” said Dasco, quoted from Antara on Friday (1/4/2026).
Dasco urged ride-hailing driver organisations to be involved in discussions on employment relations to find mutual agreement.
“Ride-hailing driver organisations will still be invited to talk and consult,” he said.
He has signed Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 27 of 2026 to guarantee protection for online transport workers.
“I say here, I do not agree with 10 percent, it must be below 10 percent,” said President Prabowo.
Prabowo will strive for a 92 percent revenue share for ojol drivers.
“Also, the revenue distribution was previously 80 percent for drivers, now it will be at least 92 percent for drivers,” he said.
