Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Authority (Danantara), has confirmed it is preparing to acquire a stake in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI). Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir stated that discussions are ongoing with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the IDX board regarding the demutualisation process. “Yes, the demutualisation is still in process, both with the OJK and the Exchange’s directors. God willing, it can be completed within the next few months,” Pandu said at the IDX building in Jakarta on Monday. He explained that the process is currently in the stage of drafting an OJK Regulation (POJK), which is targeted for completion in September 2026. Regarding the specific shareholding portion, Pandu noted that details are still under discussion and will be shared with the public shortly. The acquisition will be carried out through PT Danantara Investment Management (DIM), following a directive from the Investment Management Agency (BPI) to execute the demutualisation investment. Previously, OJK’s Executive Head of Capital Market Supervision, Hasan Fawzi, stated that the Ministry of Finance, Bank Indonesia, and Danantara would be the first parties given the opportunity to become shareholders of the IDX. The OJK is currently finalising the POJK on demutualisation, which will serve as the legal basis for changing the IDX’s institutional structure from a mutual to a demutualised entity, with the regulation expected to be completed by the second week of September 2026.
